About Me
Liliana Rivera is Professor at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá and former Research Affiliate at MIT’s Center for Transportation and Logistics, with over 20 years of applied research and consulting experience in supply-chain digitalization, sustainability, and logistics clusters. Her work appears in leading journals such as Production, Planning & Control and International Journal of Production Economics.
She co-founded a consulting company called Logistec Consultores that translates research into real-world impact, regularly partnering with industry and public-sector organizations to design actionable frameworks for digital and sustainable supply-chain transformations.
In 2024, Liliana published “Blockchain: An opportunity to improve supply chains in the wake of digitalization” and “Trust as an Enhancer of Collaborative Value Creation”. As speaker, she has presented at the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) Annual Meeting and MIT CTL workshops.

Education
My academic journey blends economics and engineering: beginning with a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (2003), followed by an M.A. in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics from the University of Maryland (2010) and an M.Eng. in Logistics at MIT (2010), and culminating in a Ph.D. in Engineering Systems from MIT (2014). This diverse training underpins a multidisciplinary approach to research and practice.
Experience
Liliana bridges academic, professional and consulting experiences. With more than 20 years of expertise, her track record spans the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, faculty appointments at the Management Faculty of the Universidad de los Andes, and high-impact advisory projects for multilateral banks and government agencies such as PNUD, CAF, DNP, ILO and DANE. This triple vantage point lets her craft data-driven, sustainable supply-chain strategies that enhance competitiveness and resilience across Latin America, the United States and Europe.
